Happy Birthday Mary Blair!

Walt's Favourite animator and artist was Mary Blair who was known for creating the concept art to some of the Disney classics Peter Pan, Cinderella and of course, my favourite, Alice In Wonderland! She was also the person Walt went to when designing Its A Small World Attraction in the parks! I loved her sketchy, whimsical and child like style of drawing and have my favourites that I want copies of when I get my own place! (Look for some ideas for presents below Mum!) I found some great articles on her here and here! so please read them as well!

Disney Books

Since leaving Orlando I have been purchasing Disney books on Amazon and eBay constantly! My 3 favourite purchases have been:

I got this one from Amazon (click here) and i LOVE it! It has sketches from most of the animated Disney classics that everyone loves. Its a rather thick and heavy book, and I have seen many sketches inside that I need to get framed to place around my room! Its a must for any Disney animation fan!

The next is this scrap book by Robert Tieman which you can buy here! It is fantastic! It dates alot of the important milestones in Disney's history and has CD, booklet, postcards and photo's that are replicas of original Disney work and also some personal items of Walts!

The last is this biography of Walt Disney, but I have yet to start it and my Mum wouldn't let me bring it to Uni as she thought it might distract me..... don't know where she'd get that idea from?

Tangled

I saw Tangled today and I thought it was amazing! Its a classic Disney fairytale, which they do so well! The characters were hilarious yet the film was deep with emotion, I laughed and cried. The characters Maximus the horse and the chameleon are literally the most hilarious non-speaking animals I've seen in a animated film for years! (maybe on par with Miko, Flit and Percy from Pocahontas). The music and songs were incredible and it felt like you were watching a great classic Disney film! Alan Menken is the man responsible for the soundtrack to this film (same genius who did the Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hunchback of Notre dame songs!). I highly recommend everyone go see this immediately! Just been informed that this has been overlooked for best animation at the Oscars?! The Academy are clearly insane!

Disney Traditions

Amazing Christmas Day! Got so many goodies including this Disney Traditions collectable statue (pictured below) which may now have started an addiction for collecting these as they are beautiful (and i'll be getting discount on Disney merchandise when I'm a cast member!), here's the website to all the others here!. My other presents were my plane tickets to and from Florida and I'm getting a camcorder next week so I can document my adventure better next year! 


Saw my 2 nieces and nephew and the rest of my step family, literally have eaten my weight in junk food today! Finally got to see the Princess & The Frog and I was very impressed, Disney Animation Studios have clearly looked into the archives and saw how the great animators made classic Disney films as the music and animation were amazing!
