So..... I Got The Job!

Just got the email saying I have been offered the Guest Services job for Disney Cruise Line! Very, very excited at the moment! Don't know any other details apart from that as my start date is negotiable and what ship I go on is dependent on that. I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple other jobs but I'm so excited on the offer to work for Disney again (and to get into the parks free unlimited times!).

Apart from that and my interviews all I have been doing is University work and counting down to my birthday trip to Disneyland Paris which I leave 1 month today!

Disney Cruise Line Interview

So I'm very excited to announce I have an interview for Disney Cruise Line this Friday! I had a very good interview for a New York placement in this artsy hotel in Manhattan called the Roger Smith hotel earlier this week, so been very busy!  The interview this Friday is in the Disney headquarters at Hammersmith in London, it should be a fun day and the job role I'm going for is Guest Services. When I worked in the park I always liked the thought of Guest Services (especially the ones in the Magic Kingdom!) I think it is an extremely important role as you have to deal with so any situations, so I'm excited I'm getting the chance to interview!

I'm off to London tomorrow night to stay with my Aunt so I can get a good night sleep before the interview (and a day of shopping!). I am then off back to Essex for the weekend to spend some time with my friends and family!

John Lasseter

I love John Lasseter, he is incredibly talented and nice man! He is now the CCO of the Walt Disney company after Disney bought Pixar in 2006, but of course he is the main Pixar man! Please check out this interview he did in Decemeber here! Enjoy!

Face To Face Interview

Had my face to face interview at Newcastle this year, hadn't been there before and didn't realise how far north it was! Mum was kind enough to book my a hotel the night before as otherwise I would of have to of left at 4.30am! Was very similar to last year, quick presentation from the lovely people from Florida about the whole program. Jill, the recruiter, asked me lots of questions through the presentation as I had been there before and also spoke to a lot of other applicants as they had loads of question too! After that they scheduled my interview for 12.50pm so had time to get a coffee and speak to more people who had applied. It seems there was a lot more applicants this year which made me more nervous!

The interview itself went well, Jill was lovely and asked very general questions of why I wanted t go back and what I expected to gain. Also she had my report card from this year and was nice to hear that my manager had approved me for rehire! Now here comes the waiting game again as we have 3 more weeks until I hear back! Have also been looking at other placements incase Disney doesn't rehire me! Found some great ones in Canada and also off the coast of South Carolina in the states; which is only a 5 hour drive to Orlando!

Another Phone Interview

Had my phone interview today with Yummy Jobs for the year placement at Walt Disney World Florida! The program is study based which means I would primarily focus on studying then still work at Disney! I was a bit nervous about the interview and the whole process this time round as I have done a program wit Disney before and have spoken to many others that are applying again and have been rejected as they want more new people to experience it. But I got the email saying I have made it through to face to face interviews on Tuesday (short notice!!) in Newcastle but of course I'll be going.

Once again, a little nervous as this will be my second program but luckily as its slightly different hopefully they'll accept me! Been looking at the courses that they offer and my favourites would be Marketing, Guest Services and Disney Heritage. I mean how many chances do you get to study Disney's history! Anyway, wish me luck and I'll let you know how I get on at after the interview tuesday!

The Process I Took To Get Me To This Point....

Hey everyone, I noticed a lot of people that do the ICP college summer program do blogs so I thought I'd do one as well! I thought I'd talk about my process in some detail so other people applying can have some info!
  • It first started when I saw a poster at my university and had a presentation by Nick from Yummy Jobs (the company that run it for Disney in the UK) the meeting was amazing and basically tells you all about the program! After ward if you were interested you left your CV and stayed around for an informal chat with 5 other people. They basically just asked why you wanted to do the program and answered any question you had
  • The next step was waiting for an email to see whether or not you got a phone interview (although I'm told not everyone has this stage, some people go straight to f2f). I found out I had a phone interview and had 2 weeks to prepare! Again its just a chat with someone from Yummy Jobs, it lasts around 15 minutes. Some advice I thought I'd add is make a little list before the interview of what you want to tell them and just really sell yourself!
  • Next I found out I had gotten to the face to face interviews in Liverpool, I was very nervous but excited to meet all the other people that applied. The day started off with a presentation of the accommodation, parks and perks! The 2 ladies that came from Disney world were lovely with very American accents! Then we were given our interview times and went in pairs. The interview was basically a chat and discussing why you wanted to do the program and why they should pick you. Again, just really sell yourself and make sure you tell them why they should pick you! As well as this you have to tell them what jobs you'd be interested in doing there and I suggest saying as many as possible as they are looking for flexible people!
  • The next bit is the absolute worst..... the wait! I had to wait over 3 weeks to hear and believe me it was torture! Its amazing once you hear and get all excited!
So that's basically my whole experience to this point! The main advice I could give to people applying is be yourself and make sure you tell them everything possible about yourself why they should pick you, its a very popular program and thousands apply so make sure you stick out for the good reasons!
